Patient Experience Week 26-30 April 2021

30/04/2021

Patient Experience Week is an initiative of the Beryl Institute to celebrate healthcare staff impacting patient experience every day. Inspired by members of the Institute community, Patient Experience Week provides a focused time for organizations to celebrate accomplishments, reenergize efforts and honour the people who impact patient experience every day.

The Health and Disability Services Complaints Office (HaDSCO) is an independent Statutory Authority offering an impartial resolution service for complaints relating to health, disability and mental health services in Western Australia and the Indian Ocean Territories.

For Patient Experience Week 2021, HaDSCO is highlighting youth complaints.  There are no age limits when raising a complaint with HaDSCO.

Young people are encouraged to make complaints about health, disability or mental health services, on their own behalf or with help from a parent, carer, guardian or advocate. Young carers can also make complaints on behalf of someone they care for.

HaDSCO feature in the My Health in my Hands three-minute animation aimed at young people aged 12 to 18.  The animation was created by the Child and Youth Health Network in partnership with young people in WA and promoted by Healthy WA. My Health in My Hands is a useful tool for parents, carers and teachers to aid in understanding how young people engage with health care.
