  • Celebrating NAIDOC Week with Ombudsman WA and EOC
    Celebrating NAIDOC Week with Ombudsman WA and EOC 12 July 2024 In celebration of NAIDOC Week this year, we partnered with Ombudsman WA for the City of Armadale’s NAIDOC Festival in Bob Blackburn Reserve. We also co-hosted an outreach stall in Perth CBD with the Equal Opportunity Commission (EOC). These events allowed us to connect and inform community members about their right to safe and ethical health care, to fair treatment, and to complain if they are not happy with the decisions or practices of a WA government agency or university. It was wonderful meeting so many community members and hearing their stories.
  • Have a Go, Rockingham! 06 May 2024 Last week, we joined our friends at Aphra for the Seniors Recreation Council of WA’s Have a Go Day in Rockingham.It was wonderful to meet so many community members, and hear overwhelming positive feedback about local health services. Mike Barnett Sports Complex was packed with representatives from care providers, advocacy groups and social clubs. Amongst the information stalls, tea cosies, and potted plants there were boxes of free vintage postcards courtesy of the WA Card Collectors Society, and the crowds were treated to entertainment by the Square Dance Society of WA.
  • HaDSCO and Ahpra team up to connect with Armadale community
    HaDSCO and Ahpra team up to connect with Armadale community 15 April 2024 We teamed up with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) for the City of Armadale’s Let’s Connect Expo. The event focused on community connection and empowerment, and allowed residents in the Armadale and surrounds to explore and network with community groups and service providers. The expo showcased 81 stallholders from a range of service areas, including employment; youth, children and family; disability; seniors; multicultural; Aboriginal; health and wellbeing; emergency relief and crisis support; and volunteering. Community presentations were also held throughout the day. HaDSCO’s own Deputy Director, Correne Bartlett, kicked off the day’s talks with a presentation about How to provide feedback on your healthcare, where to go when you have a complaint, and knowing your rights as someone accessing health services. “The expo had a fa...
